Samuel is a cute little boy of four years, living in a suburb of Accra. At one point Samuel’s parents were able to send him to school for a while, but because the family couldn’t pay the fees any longer, he has now been kicked out. Some days you will find him going to the market with his mother, who trades small goods. Other days Samuel is forced to stay at home by himself, where he “tries to find something meaningful to do.” One of Samuel’s favorite pastimes is to hang out at his church. One of Samuel’s favorite pastimes is to hang out at his church. Since he is often unattended, each day he seeks refuge there. He is said to be a very nice boy who loves to play on the instruments in the church!
For $35 each month, Samuel could begin to go to school again. In school he would be safe from the hazards that surround him each day. Even at this young age he says he would like to become a doctor, a goal that seems unattainable to his family at the moment. Might you be the one who helps Samuel reach his dreams?
04/09/13 Update: Samuel has found his sponsor! A generous family has stepped forward to help pay Samuel’s tuition and school-related expenses.
